Cove and Hot
Water Beachare certainly on most peoples list of things to do on the Coromandel. For many the highlight of their trip is staying at Kaeppeli's
B&B.
Hot water beach
To find hot water at Hot Water Beach, you need to visit 2 hours either side of low tide. Kaeppeli's B&B will provide you with bucket and spade. You dig your own hole for your bath. The water is very hot, so the bucket is quite handy to add some cold water.
Please note: Hot Water Beach does tend to have very dangerous rips in the sea near the point where the hot water is. Unless there are life guards on duty, it is best not to swim there.
Local attractions
We will happily help you plan your day. From Kaeppeli's B&B, Kuaotunu there's a wide range of local attractions.
- A ten minute drive over the Black Jack Road to beautiful Otama Beach and Opito Bay.
- Walking Bluff Road to Matarangi.
-
A twenty minute walk to New Chums Beach.
- Climbing Castle Rock for the more adventurous.
- Visiting Robert's Kaeppelis cellar.
After driving the famous 309 Road, visiting Driving Creek Railway or a day at the beach, a stop at Kuaotunu Store on your way home for an icecream and then a visit to Black Jack Art is not a bad way to end your day out.
